Ajar is a graduate student in clinical psychology and future psychotherapist, a lover of cinema, and a photography dilettante. She is a gentle and thoughtful person and seeks connection and understanding in her practice as well as her creative pursuits. Born in Kyrgyzstan and having grown up in Montreal, her cultural identity is as complex as the cultural landscape of her country of origin. Her feeling of belonging has been impacted by a lack of multidimensional narratives in Western media centered on immigrants, POC, and WOC. Central Asian voices and faces are virtually nonexistent in media, which she hopes to help change with her modeling work.
What is the most important detail in your practice?
I cherish uniqueness and imperfections. Whether a light leak on a film photograph, a prominent mole on somebody’s face, or a messy personality, I am drawn to the peculiarities that infuse life with complexity and beauty.
